NASHVILLE, October 11, 2025 — Conservative commentator Benny Johnson told reporters today that federal authorities arrested a man who sent him a grotesque death-threat letter describing, in chilling detail, how Johnson would be killed and how his family would be left behind.
“The individual who wrote me described why he wanted me dead. I was a white, cis, Christian Trump supporter,” Johnson said at a press conference. “He described in great detail how I would be killed in an open field, just like Charlie, how much blood would come out of my head and neck when it was blown off. He described orphaning my four beautiful children and widowing my wife with great joy.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi said the suspect, identified as George Isbell Jr., was taken into custody this morning and is being charged federally. Bondi vowed prosecutors would bring the author of the letter to justice.
Johnson described the emotional toll on his family — saying his wife, Kate, discovered the letter — and called the threat “horrifying.” He condemned the culture of celebration he says followed Charlie Kirk’s death and warned the nation about a growing acceptance of violence in political discourse.
“How anyone could celebrate parents being under terroristic threat like this?” Johnson asked. How many more times do we need to see our President shot in the head? How many more Christian children praying in churches do we need to see slaughtered?”
Johnson argued that political leaders must act to calm extremist elements on the left and called on Democrats to disavow candidates who promote violent rhetoric. He specifically referenced a Virginia attorney-general candidate whom he said had previously endorsed violent language, and demanded party leaders call that person off the ticket.
Johnson framed the episode as a symptom of a deeper cultural crisis — one he tied to the decline of family and faith — and urged Americans to re-center their communities on moral and religious values.
Federal investigators credited a fingerprint found during the inquiry and praised the FBI and Department of Justice for their work in apprehending the suspect. Johnson thanked authorities and asked the public to pray for his family and for a swift legal resolution.
